On 29 October, the Public institution for the management of the protected parts of nature in Varaždin County (JU ZDP VZ) organised and held the first educational workshop within the Rivers’cool programme in Varaždin County in the Drava Forest Park.
The first participants of Rivers’cool were members of the school group “Little Scientists” from the Sixth Primary School in Varaždin. Through play, observation and cooperation, the primary school students had the opportunity to learn about the natural values along the Drava River. Using natural materials (leaves and fruits of various plant species, branches, etc.) from the immediate surroundings, the students expressed themselves artistically and at the same time learned about plant species that can be found in the vicinity of the Drava River. By playing the educational floor game representing the Mura-Drava Regional Park, which is part of the five-country biosphere reserve Mura-Drava-Danube, the students repeated the information they had learned by answering the questions during the game.
At the end of the programme, the students received Rivers’cool sets containing both promotional and educational materials.
